“I design all the stuff myself. IVe got people to pack it up, but I design it,” Jordan tells me, adding that occasionally he bows to popular demand, like the “Border Patrol” caps he made in response to requests Atlas pendant were purportedly pouring in. What’s his favorite shirt on the site right now? He pauses for along moment, then says, “I like the one that says: “Who is scarier? Osama, Obama, or Chelsea’s mama?’”
Jordan got his start in 2003, at the beginning of the Iraq War, when he noticed there were lots of anti-war shirts around but nothing representing his point of view. “I thought it would be fun to make a shirt that said ‘Pro-War,’ and a couple of shirts attacking the French,” he says. “It started as kind of a joke” The joke grew into a Charm pendant offering around 400 items. Asked what he currently tiiinks is his most offensive design, he chooses the “My Perfect Republican World” tee, which he confesses actually didn’t sell all that well. (The wordy shirt in question features a long list of qualities that this “perfect world” would exhibit, including gems like “Jimmy Carter is buried beneath a collapsed Habitat house during an earthquake in Iran” and “Alec Baldwin is found lifeless on a massage table after receiving a horrific bite from a transvestite in Palm Springs.”) “I think it was a little rough,” Jordan acknowledges. “Our job is not Tiffany Cushion Triple drop pendant make the offensive too offensive, or people don’t want to buy them.”
Marc Jacobs’s Spring 2008 show got TONGUES WAGGING for HOW LONG IT TOOK to hit the runway. BAZAAR enlisted the designer, his team, and PR powerhouse KCD to restage the ground颅Atlas cube pendant collection, because sitting through it once was not enough.

“I placem Miso moj, placem pred strancima…”
Marina T.

Shiv Sena Women is an important book that explores women’s “agency” in a right-wing movement that has been at the heart of communal political mobilization in Western India. The movement’s targets of hatred have Paloma’s X pendant from “outsiders” such as South Indians to “Bhaiyas,” a derogatory term for Hindi speakers from North India, who form an important segment of the working class in Mumbai, a city that needs their labour but denies them the right to be there. Through the years, Muslims have provided a stable and “profitable” object of hatred for Shiv Sena rhetoric, whose women’s wing Sen has researched. The women’s wing Elsa Peretti Eternal Circle pendant notoriety in the huge wave of violence in 1992 that swept Mumbai after the demolition of the Babri Masjid in Ayodhya. A running thread of the argument in Sen’s work is to draw a link between the vulnerability of the erstwhile working class, ravaged by die long strike in Mumbai in the early 1980s, and then faced with closure of the mills and the loss of livelihood, as well as the violence in their everyday lives, often from “dieir own” men, with their drive towards gaining a measure of power and recognition, which they achieved through their miMtancy within die Shiv Sena. Until this time, die organization marginalized women and regarded them as adjuncts rather than granting them a leadership Elsa Peretti Open Teardrop pendant. According to Sen’s information, derived mainly from some of the male leaders of Shiv Sena, it is the women who incited dieir men to violence, shaming them with dieir taunts of wearing bangles, being unmanly, even suggesting that they could not be fathers of their children, since they were standing by and passively watching the violence “Hindus” were being Elsa Peretti Bottle pendant to. Yet lost in this admittedly riveting description of die riots is the fact diat it was die Muslims who were subjected to humiliation and police bullets which set off the riots in Mumbai and led to repeated rounds of violence, in which the largest number of those killed were Muslims. Somehow the way in which Sen frames her analysis – of clearly very important issues that must be confronted by feminists and democratic activists to understand right-wing women’s agency – nevertheless leaves a sense of disquiet.

There are, indeed, going to be very tough days ahead, and the haemorrhaging that is to come is not based on any sound economics – sad that a foreign newspaper gets it while most of the British media do not. Cuts to the school-building programme will hit even the Tory heartlands, as a number of Conservative MPs are beginning to discover; so will cutting red tape in the NH S . The surge in youth unemployment I have been warning about for a couple of years is now hitting home and the papers are full of reports of graduates who can’t find jobs. No wonder the public-sector Tiffany Necklaces are up in arms, and this is just the beginning. The big cuts in the autumn are going to be so much worse.
The Office for Budget Irresponsibility (aka OBR) has been much in the news after apparently fiddling the unemployment forecast downwards to help out the government. The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development added to the fire by saying that it expected the UK recovery to be “too muted to result in strong job creation” and that unemployment is “likely to recede only slowly”. As a result, it predicts, the unemployment rate will remain at nearly 8 per cent at the end of 2011 .
The International Monetary Fund revised its global growth forecast upwards, but, in view of the Budget Tiffany Rings, downgraded its forecast of UK growth. It said Britain would grow by 1.2 per cent this year, the second-slowest growth rate in the G7 group and 0.1 points lower than its previous estimate in April. Next year, it expects growth to pick up to 2.1 per cent, 0.4 points down on its April forecast and below the 2.3 per cent predicted by the OBR.
Forecasts of GDP growth by the Institute of Directors were even lower: only 0.9 per cent in 2010 and 1.8 per cent in 2011. The institute’s chief economist, Graeme Leach, colourfully predicted that the recovery would be L -shaped: “After a very abnormal recession it would be foolish to rule out the possibility of a very Tiffany Pendants recovery as well. A whole host of reasons support the idea of one ‘L’ of a recovery.”
Fathom Consulting predicts growth of only 0.8 per cent in 2010 and 1.6 per cent in 2011, with unemployment rising to 8.4 per cent in 2011. And the risks to growth are heavily skewed to the downside in Fathom’s forecast. much more so than elsewhere. In this downside scenario, to which Fathom attaches a 40 per cent probability, growth next year is -1 per cent (followed by -0.2 per cent in 2012), and unemployment rises to 10 per cent and remains at that level through 2012. The chart (see left) shows the considerable risks of re-entering recession – and staying there. This is the nightmare scenario that the Con-Dem coalition has brought into play.
Adding to concerns is new data on exports and imports. The OBR assumes that net trade – the balance between exports and imports – will make a big positive contribution to GDP growth in 2011 and onward. Data from the Office for National Statistics suggests otherwise. The trade gap widened to 拢3.8bn in May, the worst figure since July 2008 . Exports rose by less than 拢Tiffany Bangles (0.2 per cent), while imports climbed by 拢700111 (2.4 per cent).
Deep down
This is consistent with the most recent Markit/ CIPS manufacturing survey, which showed that export orders dropped sharply last month. The strengthening pound and weakening growth in the euro area are hitting British exports hard. Alan Clarke, an economist at BNP Paribas, has it spot on: “If we are hoping that net exports are going to be the engine of growth that drives the economy out of recession, I fear we are going to be disappointed.”
The latest data shows that GDP fell by 6 .4 per cent from peak to trough during the recession, worse than previous estimates. Meanwhile, government spending in the first quarter of 2010 rose by 1.5 per cent, a whole 1 per cent more than reported earlier, and yet household consumption still fell. That the recession turns out to be deeper than thought, and the government’s stimulus more important, makes it even more likely that the cuts will have a disastrous effect.
